The Dragons' Den star took to Instagram to show off her latest craft project – an on-trend cover for an old plant pot. It's the perfect way to give an unwanted pot a new lease of life, and create a stunning new accessory for your home.
Sara upcycled brown paper packaging by cutting it into strips and plaiting it, and attaching each strip using a glue gun.
She popped her plant in the finished pot, then her crafty creation was ready to display!
Alongside the video of her make, Sara wrote the caption: "So I saw this idea on Pinterest and thought I’d have a go because I’ve got loads of that brown paper packaging leftover that I always keep to re-cycle but now I can ‘upcycle’ it!! "I found the best way to get the ‘scrumpled look’ without it being too regimented was to scrunch strips of paper and then plait them and it worked out really well!"
This make is a great way to sustainably use leftover brown paper – or you could create a more colourful effect by using unwanted wrapping paper. It's a great craft to work on with children – just make sure to oversee them using scissors and a hot glue gun.
You could also use the same technique to re-cover pen pots or even a vase – anything cylindrical in your home which needs a new lease of life!
